that the age recommendations and grade suitability for each play/musical
are suggestions only. We would be pleased to supply portions of the script
for your perusal and/or discuss any specific concerns you have. Please

Study
Guide/Post Play
As an additional
education component, each performance is supplemented by a study guide
with discussion questions, activities, and technical information about
the show (available one month before the show), and/or an in-theatre discussion
following the performance which offers audience members the opportunity
to interact directly with the actors and the Director in a question and
answer format.

Once your reservation
is received and processed, we will send you a confirmation email with the
performance date and time selected for your group. If you do NOT receive
a confirmation within 1 week of placing your request, please contact our
office to confirm that your reservation has been received.

The City Playhouse

10 days of booking a student matinee performance. The final number confirmation
and the balance is due one week before the show. Please note that no refunds
are available for unused tickets.
The CYP Student Matinee Series provides 1 complimentary ticket for every 15 tickets purchased for the educators attending with their students. Groups of 15 or less are not eligible for complimentary teacher tickets.
Additional
Tickets
If you need
extra seats for more chaperones or students, please call the theatre at
(905) 832-7469, or email the.city.playhouse@vaughan.ca, to ask for availability.
Please do not ask parents/chaperones to call as we do not sell single tickets
to our student matinee performances. All increases to the ticket amount
must come directly from the school to us.
Arrival
Time and Seating
The performance
start time is not your arrival time. Please plan to arrive at least 20
minutes prior to your performance start time. The performance start time
can be found on your invoice. One teacher should check in with a theatre
staff person upon arrival. At that time, please ask your entire group to
follow their instructions so that we can get you seated as quickly and
efficiently as possible. Anyone arriving after the show has started will
be seated at the discretion of the house manager.
Please note: Every group has a pre-assigned seating assignment, so you must wait to be seated by an usher. Seats are assigned based on the age of the students attending and with any special needs taken into consideration. If your group has wheelchairs or special needs, please notify our office at the time of booking.
Theatre
Etiquette
City Youth Players
prides itself on training new audiences to enjoy theatre. Please take the
time to instruct your students on proper behaviour before attending the
performance. Be sure that your class is in the theatre and seated before
the show is scheduled to begin. If one of your students becomes upset/inconsolable
during the performance, please instruct a chaperone to escort the student
to the lobby. When seating your group, please be sure to disperse your
chaperones evenly throughout the group.
Responsibilites
of the Chaperone
A Chaperones
role is to assist the teacher with monitoring safety and student behaviour.
Teachers and adult chaperones should be seated interspersed within their
group of students. Chaperones should not bring infant children to the performance
as they are a distration for the student audience as well as the chaperone.
Bring one adult chaperone free for every 15 students. You may reserve
seats for any number of paying adult chaperones but please bring a minimum
of one per fifteen students.
Length
of Show
The actual running
time of each play will be available approximately one week prior to the
performance. Before this time, please refer to the play's production page,
or call our office for more specific information.
Our full-scale
musicals can run as long as two hours, including intermission; The TYA
productions run from forty to sixty minutes.
